Turns out Ben Arc owns nostr.com (and nostr.org?) and he's not obligated to follow the "ethos" of #Nostr as users are not obligated to get a NIP-05 from nostr.com
So, he's free to charge $5 a year for NIP-05s and require people to have an account
He's a free agent!
